Notice on Sending Students to Participate the 2017 Summer and Autumn Student Exchange Program
All colleges and schools:
In order to further accommodate our students’ desireto increase overseas learning experience and acquire an international outlookand improve the overall quality of students, according to relevant documents ofthe school, the school will send 116 full-time undergraduate and graduatestudents to participate in the 2017 Summer and Autumn Student Exchange Programand provide funding according to the specific circumstances of the project.Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
Ⅰ. Basic ApplicationRequirements
(Ⅰ) Of good political quality and goodcharacter and haven’t violated any rules or discipline while studying at theschool;
(Ⅱ) Study hard, perform wellacademically, have a high level of proficiency in English and meet all therequirements of the project;
(Ⅲ) Physically and mentally healthy, havea strong ability to adapt, take care of himself or herself and meet emergenciesand can successfully complete learning tasks abroad;
(Ⅳ) His or her family can afford thecost of traveling to and from his or her study abroad, his or her living andother expenses and have paid the fees payable to the school.
Ⅱ. Registration Deadline
Student exchange programs (Malaysia, Taiwan): 30 April2017;
Short-term exchange programs: May 20, 2017.
Two programs can be applied for perperson per batch. Exchange students are limited to their majors, but short-termexchange students are not limited to their majors.
Ⅲ. Funding Policy
In order to encourage students to take part in theactivity and strengthen cultural quality-oriented education for students, theschool will provide RMB 3,000-10,000 yuan in funding for each student selectedfor the 2017 Summer and Autumn Student Exchange Program. Meanwhile, allundergraduate students participating in the program will get one extra creditpoint according to the Measures of Xi’an University of Science and Technologyfor Credit Assessment and Recognition for Second Classroom Education forUndergraduates.
The school will withdraw funding for a selected studentin any of the following circumstances:
(Ⅰ) Provide false information orconceal unfavorable information in the application materials submitted;
(Ⅱ) Violate school discipline and rulesand the exchange study agreement;
(Ⅲ) Lack team spirit, do not obey thelead teacher.
Ⅳ. Funded Programs andNumber of Funding Recipients
(Ⅰ) Number of funding recipients perschool
1. Number of students receivingfunding:Each school (department) recommends 4-6 students for funding, including onestudent who excels both morally and academically for full funding (except forstudent exchange programs), schools that have passed major certification oroffering a major that is about to be evaluated or re-evaluated may recommendtwo more students; if any of the above recommended students fails to sign up,funding will be transferred to a student who voluntarily sign up. Fundingrecipients for short-term exchange and learning programs are mainlyundergraduate students. A school may allow graduate students to participate inthese programs without increasing the number of funding recipients.
2. Number of teachers receivingfunding:For specific programs, a school that has acquitted itself well in organizationmay assign 1-2 teachers to accompany students throughout the program.
The number of students and teachers receiving fundingwill be determined by the leading group for the work of reviewing funding forstudent participation in student exchange programs through consultationaccording to the applications received for each program.

Ⅴ. Work Requirements
Student exchanges provide strong support for majorcertification and subject evaluations, so please publicize them widely, organizethem carefully, set up a group for the work of reviewing funding for studentparticipation in student exchange programs, recommend outstanding students whoare interested and eligible for participation according to the characteristicsof programs and students’ majors and submit the list of recommended students tothe International Exchange and Cooperation Office before April 15.

1. School profile
The University of Malaya is the largest and mostprestigious university in Malaysia and also the oldest university in Malaysia.In 2016, the University of Malaya ranked 27th in Asia and 133rd worldwide. Theschool was founded in 1905, is located in Kuala Lumpur and covers an area ofmore than 4,500 mus. The University of Malaya is a comprehensive universitythat offers degrees in liberal arts, science and medicine. It is also the mostpowerful university in teaching and research in Malaysia. The University ofMalaya has the most advanced teaching and research facilities in Malaysia andalso boasts Malaysia’s largest university library where language books alonestand at one million copies.

1. School profile
The Northern University of Malaysia (UUM) was foundedin 1984 and is located in the northern state of Kedah. Its massive campuscovers an area of 1,061 hectares (16,000 mus). UUM, which cost 580 million yuanto build, boasts a beautiful environment, with the entire campus surrounded bytropical rainforest. It is the most beautiful university in Peninsular Malaysia.In 2016, UUM ranked 137th in Asia. In August the same year, UUM obtained AACSB(Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) certification. Lessthan 5% of business schools worldwide have earned this accreditation.

1. School profile
The Universiti Malaysia Sabah is reputed to be the “mostbeautiful university in the world” and also one of Malaysia’s most famouspublic universities. The school was founded in 1994 and covers an area of 999acres. It boasts a beautiful environment with the entire campus situated nearthe mountains and the sea, and possesses first-class hardware and softwarefacilities. The university has a total of 13 colleges, 3 research institutes, 7research centers and 5 subordinate units and offers 1,800 courses in 63subjects. In addition, the university also boasts the only Nobel collectioncenter, leadership collection center, university science and technology museum,university museum and university outdoor development and survival center inMalaysia. The school also has its own exclusive waters for scientific researchand the ”Sabah Galaxy Research Vessel”. Its teaching and research strengthcomes out on top among Malaysian universities.

1. School profile
The National Yunlin University of Science andTechnology, one of Taiwan’s well-known universities of science and technology,located in Yunlin County, Douliu City. It currently has four colleges, namelythe College of Engineering, the College of Management, the College of Designand the College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, 19 departments, 33 master’sprograms and 12 doctoral programs. According to the assessment and evaluationof universities of science and technology conducted by the Taiwan Assessmentand Evaluation Association in 2005, the National Yunlin University of Scienceand Technology ranked second. The National Yunlin University of Science andTechnology topped the list of vocational-technical schools receiving grantsfrom the Ministry of Education’s Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence ofUniversities in 2006 and 2007. In February 2017, we sent three students to theschool to participate in the student exchange program and achieved satisfactoryresults.

1. School profile
The National Chin-Yi University of Technology is apublic multidisciplinary university in Taiwan. Since its inception more than 40years ago, the school has cultivated nearly 70,000 senior technicalprofessionals for Taiwan. It is an important applied technology research andtalent cultivation base in Taichung. The school attaches importance to theinventions and creations of teachers and students, encourages teachers andstudents to actively participate in innovation competitions and has woninternational innovation awards and gold medals at the International Exhibitionof Inventions of Geneva on multiple occasions. In September 2016, we sent eightstudents to the school to participate in the student exchange program andachieved satisfactory results.

University of CambridgeShort-term Study Tour and Exchange Program
1. Program profile
Students will be studying at Cambridge colleges andrelevant affiliated institutions and be accompanied by students at theUniversity of Cambridge. They will also be able to experience the counselingsystem of the University of Cambridge where a group of counselors providecounseling to students in academic matters. The program is unlike othervisiting programs in that more than 90% of its teachers are well-knownprofessors and scholars in various fields of the University of Cambridge. Atthe end of the course, students will make a completion report and be assessedand assigned a score by Cambridge scholars. Those qualified will be awarded theprecious course completion certificate and academic report at an elegant formalhigh table dinner. The completion certificate and academic report haverepeatedly been recognized by well-known universities and companies in Europeand America. During the program, students will have the opportunity to visitthe following well-known companies/institutions: University of Oxford,University of Cambridge, Cavendish Laboratory, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament,Buckingham Palace, British Museum, Prime Minister's Office, Cambridge AmericanCemetery and Memorial, Greene King, science, technology and engineering-relatedcompanies, introduction to science, technology and engineering innovation inUK.

The second part is the costs of living andsocializing, including the costs of airport transfers, Cambridge accommodation,breakfasts and dinners, tours of Cambridge colleges, punting on the River Cam,golf experiences, debutante balls, tours and transportation in London, toursand transportation at Oxford, graduation dinner and daily 24 -hour security andmanagement.
Total price: 3,000 pounds, or about 26,000 yuan. (Thecosts do not include international air tickets and visa fees) Specific feescare charged based on the specific exchange rate at the time of application.

Hong Kong University ofScience and Technology Short-term Visiting and Exchange Program
1. Project profile
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(HKUST), ranked 5th in Asia and 28th in the world in the QS World UniversityRankings 2015. Since its inception in 1986, it has attached great importance tothe exchange of knowledge, ideas, and concepts of innovation among students,faculty members and visiting scholars. It has a free and open learningenvironment and has the highest number of international exchange students inHong Kong. It adheres to teaching in English and is a research-orienteduniversity famous for its School of Business and Management, School ofHumanities and Social Science, School of Science and School of Engineering.
2. Available majors
Any major (Main courses include business innovationand leadership leading the development of the world, global strategy,marketing, smart business, project management, cross-cultural human resourcemanagement and other practical teaching content conducive to personal talentdevelopment)
3. Study time

Experience at Famous HongKong Companies Program
1. Program profile
As one of the world’s highly prosperous internationalmetropolis, Hong Kong boasts a complete business system and advantageousfinancial resources. In order to broaden students’ international horizons,create overseas exchange and training opportunities for students and accumulatepractical elite workplace experience for students, the school will launch theInternational Business Experience Program (IBEP) for the 2017 winter vacationin Hong Kong in collaboration with Hong Kong Xinhua Education in Januarythrough February 2017. By then, students will form an elite team travelling toHong Kong and take up a one-week internship in their capacity as reservetalents of multinational companies to experience the professional life of HongKong’s financial white-collar workers.
During this week, students will undergohigh-intensity, high-pressure training, receive practical training, participatein workplace training at top famous multinational companies, learn globalinvestment concepts and practice presentations and speeches on workplaceplanning, global economic data releases, etc. under the guidance of regionalmanagers and elite mentors of multinational companies.
Upon completion of the program, students will receivecertificates from famous companies, including Program Completion Certificates,Company Letters of Recommendation and Fund Investment Competition Certificatesfrom top multinational companies; outstanding students will receive PersonalLetters of Recommendation from Executives of Famous Companies and Internship Offersfrom famous companies.

The German Short-Term Study Program is jointlyorganized by the China Center for International Educational Exchange and theInternational Confederation of German Youth for Social and Educational Work.The program provides students opportunities to explore, develop and apply theiracademic knowledge in the form of lectures, project-based teaching, groupdiscussions, visits to famous companies, visits to universities and culturalactivities and through teaching experience and practical training to developtheir leadership and creativity.

1. Program profile
“Almost all those who have a basic understanding ofarchitecture and design know Bauhaus.” As the pioneer of modern art and design,Bauhaus created the basic rules of modern design and established the basicconcepts and models of modern design and art. The “harmony and unitybetween technology and art” advocated by him, the “abstract geometry”emphasized by him and the “unvarying yet unusual visual effects” sought by himhave brought modern design to a new level. In Germany, the Bauhaus designphilosophy has always held a dominant position in the fields of architecture,art and design and industrial design.

1. Program profile
In order to further enrich overseas exchange programsand expand students’ access to different modes of education, during the wintervacation of 2017, Sophia University launched the “International EnvironmentalResources Research Series - Japanese Environmental Resources Research Program”.
Relying on the Graduate School of Global EnvironmentalStudies of Sophia University and through teaching, visits to relevantcompanies, field trips, etc., the program will allow students to have anintimate, clear understanding of the history and current situation of Japan’senvironmental resources in 10 days’ time. Through the research model, itenhances students’ ability to learn, research and communicate and internationalthinking.

Trinity Western UniversitySummer Study Tour Program
1. School profile
Founded in 1962, Trinity Western University (TWU) isCanada’s and also North America’s largest comprehensive nonprofit privateChristian university. It is the only Canadian school that has been rated A+ interms of quality of teaching for seven consecutive years by Canada’s largestnewspaper The Globe and Mail. Former president of the United Nations GeneralAssembly Dr. Charles Malik once commented that TWU was a university that makesit its mission to continuously improve the quality of teaching and cultivatehigh-quality talents. It has received academic certification from the USDepartment of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education. The universityhas a total of five schools (offering 45 undergraduate majors and 17 master’sdegree majors): School of Business, School of Education, School of HumanKinetics - Sport and Leisure Management, School of Nursing. 2. Trinity Western Universityshort-term training course - Leadership Syllabus Course Introduction
This course is designed to help students improve theirEnglish listening, speaking, reading and writing skills while studyingleadership and focuses on cultivating students’ leadership and confidence inlanguage expression in an English language environment. Students will engage instudies in leadership-related areas outside the classroom.
Teaching objectives:
Help students develop good listening habits bycompleting studies and assignments required by the syllabus and activelyparticipating in group discussions and other learning activities.
•Special training based on Chinese students’ Englishpronunciation, English presentation skills and fluency improves their Englishcommunication skills.
•Strengthen the understanding of new vocabulary.
